  Our Teacher

Victoria Andrew

Our Choral Director

Victoria Andrew is a gifted vocalist who loves to tell stories with her music, but with her own fun, loving, quirky sense of humour. Victoria started music at the young age of 6, learning to play the piano while she began to sing in theatre productions as she got older. Victoria has a deep understanding of musical harmony and she has been a valued member of successful musical companies and productions. As a performer she knows how to work an audience and she has conducted choirs and arranged music. Victoria aims to become a classroom music teacher and a well known professional in the music industry. She cares about her music and shows her passion every time she sings. Victoria is a people person.

Victoria always had a natural knack for singing. When she graduated from Derrimut Heath Primary School, she received the Music Award. Victoria was enthusiastic throughout her high school years at Kardinia International College. She has been a part of the Dennis Walter children’s choir, accapella vocal group Vybe and gOSs Community Choir. Victoria was able to improvise harmonies and sing popular songs.

Victoria has written songs about everyday life, relationships, school subjects such as Trigonometry and Cell Respiration; and composed for moving image (games, film and animation) as part of her studies at NMIT, Melbourne, Australia.

Victoria successfully completed her Bachelor of Music and is currently self-employed as a piano and vocal coach in the Western suburbs. She is the director of gOSs Community Choir. Pursuing her Masters in Teaching (Early Childhood & Primary), Victoria hopes to become a specialist music teacher in kindergartens and schools, whilst also maintaining her place as a proficient composer for Australian-made games and animations. Music therapy has been considered by Victoria as a potential career for later in her life.

"I really enjoy exploring the full possibilities of arranging melodies, accompanying musical harmony and odd rhythms. I believe one of the best ways to become familiar with a piece of music is to pull it apart and put it back together again, piece by piece.  Equipped with the teachings of professionals in the industry such as Eugene Ball, Adam Starr, Ian Whitehurst & Anthony Schulz, my only limitations of what I can arrange are the limits of my imagination."

"Over the years, I have experimented with a variety of different genres of music; from the good, the bad, and the unrecognisable. I began arranging during the later years of my childhood while learning the piano. I would slowly transcribe songs onto manuscript before playing and singing, alternating between different time signatures & harmonies. I have since arranged numerous popular hits, jazz standards and short vocal pieces for choirs, pop/rock bands, school concert bands, big bands and jazz quartets; taking into consideration the level of musical expertise of the musicians while doing so."
